You don’t realize how attached you are to certain brands until one day… they’re just gone. Sometimes with no warning. And when they are gone, you think, “Wait, what am I going to do now?”
Quote of the day: “Nothing undermines openness more surely than certainty. Once we feel as if we have ‘the answers,’ all motivation to question our thinking disappears.” Peter Senge
Instead of a “worst of 2025” post, because who needs negativity, I wanted to share something a little more real and a little more personal: the brands and products I truly miss, and what I’ve found to replace them.
Some replacements are great. Then again, some aren’t, but we learn to evolve, right?
For years, I used to tease my mom when she would mourn the loss of a favorite brand or the exact shade of a lipstick that was “discontinued.” I’d laugh and say, “Nothing is irreplaceable, there’s always something else.”
Now here I am, genuinely missing the things I loved like they’re old friends who moved away without saying goodbye.
If you’ve ever fallen in Love with a product only to have it vanish, this one’s for you.

What I Miss:
If you heard me talk about Just Meats once, then you heard me praise them over and over. Cooking meat isn’t hard, but it’s SO convenient to have it done for you without a lot of extra, unwanted ingredients.
We used the meats to toss into salads, wrap in a tortilla, or heat up with some veggies for dinner.
It made eating well feel easy, and when something makes healthy choices easy, that’s golden.
All of a sudden, the company went away. I know they were having trouble keeping up with demand, but it was a sad day when I couldn’t order it anymore.
In the meantime, I’ve tried some of the brands at the store that offer this same convenience. There’s Kevin’s meats (but we find many unwanted ingredients in it), and one at Trader Joe’s that we get regularly (unfortunately, there is only a beef option… no chicken or pork)
What’s New: True Nature Meats
Recently, a new company called True Nature Meats hit the market. And boy am I a fan.
Pro tip: Depending on the timing, there is a discount if you use my code Jtouchofstyle15–sometimes $35 off a purchase, or sometimes 15%.
Pulling out a package of already-cooked meat that is healthy and delicious makes my life so much easier.
The one disadvantage of True Nature Meats is that their website isn’t as easy to navigate, but I’m nothing if not persistent.
Pro tip: Convenience foods don’t have to mean junk.

What I Miss:
eShakti was one of those brands that made you feel seen. Custom length. Changeable sleeves. Custom necklines. And fun prints you couldn’t find anywhere else.
For women who don’t fit into ready-to-wear sizing (which is most of us), eShakti felt empowering. Their prices with the custom sizing were so reasonable. In fact, most times, even less than a ready-made dress from Macy’s.
I heard rumors of why they went out of business, but who knows the truth. They were based in India, and there could be many factors.
In the meantime, I have been improving my sewing skills and learning how to adapt clothing to fit my needs, but I still miss the convenience of eShakti.
Another Option: Sumissura
I also went searching for other companies that offer custom-made clothing that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. One option is Sumissura. In fact, I reached out to them to see if we could collaborate so I could share the results with you.
–Made to order–pants and a top
–Wrap dress–styled for every season
Yes, I loved Sumissura’s option, but it leans more towards a classic and business-appropriate style, while I love eShakti’s bold personality now that I’m retired.
Also, I don’t feel that Sumissura’s website is super easy to navigate.
Pro tip: There is probably a seamstress in your area who can accomplish your fit goals. Most of them reside in a dry cleaning store, but you could also Google “seamstress near me” or ask around.
Don’t think for one moment that it’s a waste of Money. Having something fit to your measurements is confidence-building.
Either that or use many of my style hacks, which can give you a better fit.

What I Miss:
Ruby Ribbon bras were a combination of support (little to lots of support options), back coverage, and no issues with snaps (which felt like you had to be a contortionist).
I wore them for years–usually the demi versions, but I had a couple of camisole ones and recommended them often.
Not only did they have a variety of support choices, but they also had wonderful colors.
Pro tip: The advantage of having colorful bras is that they can be used as a cami if your top is low cut, either in front or under the arms.
While their prices were not as high as the high-end bras, you could see how it couldn’t be sustained with all of the inexpensive underwear options on Amazon lately.
Pro tip: If you miss them too, I’ve found a couple on Poshmark…probably from their stylists that still have inventory.
In the meantime, I still wear my Shapeez bras, but the colors and designs are limited. That’s why I started buying a couple from Amazon to find my new favorite.
Some didn’t give me the support or feel as good, yet I haven’t tried them all…how could I? Have you seen the selection? It’s incredible, yet they all seem alike (it makes me wonder if they are all made by the same company, and then a different brand name is assigned to them).
What I Use Now: Lehoba Bras (With a Trick)
I eventually found Lehoba bras, and I’ll be honest…at first, I wasn’t a fan because of the clasps. That was one of my favorite things about Ruby Ribbon—you stepped in and out of it instead of trying to hook those closures behind your back.
Then I learned the game-changer trick:
Fasten it in the front. Then spin it around.
Dang…it seems so obvious, but evidently I was living under a rock. I posted the video, and most women already knew the trick. But I figured if I helped 1 woman (like me), then it was all worth it.
Will this be my last word about bras? Probably not. I hope to continue to try more.
Pro tip: While we grow to love certain products, I try to remember to be open to new things.

What I Miss:
‘Your Revolving Closet’ was magic. While I realize that most of you weren’t as gaga about it as I was, I look back and wish it were still around.
Affordable. Fun. Rotating wardrobe without commitment. It was the perfect way to experiment with style without stuffing your closet or maxing out your credit card.
It felt like fashion freedom. I could get new pieces…play with them for as long as I liked, and then send them back to get more.
But like anything, it’s a business, and if they aren’t making money, then they won’t survive.
What I’ve Found Since:
I’ve looked, and I’ve researched. Yet what I found is that most other rental services just aren’t as affordable.
There’s Rent the Runway (which I’ve used ages ago for special occasion dresses and shared in an article) and Nuuly (you can find their discontinued items for sale under the Anthropologie site). I did buy a couple of items from that site, but they are final sales, so no returns. But truthfully, I have to stay away from that site, because I usually want everything, haha.
I can’t say I’ve found a fabulous replacement, so now I rely more heavily on:
Pro tip: Take advantage of the free and inexpensive ideas when I showcase them because they may disappear.

What I Miss:
Maggie’s Magnets were those “how did I ever live without this?” tools. While I realize that a safety pin is just as functional, there are times you don’t want to hurt the fabric.
PLUS, magnets are easier.
Call me a true fan from the first introduction when my friend, MK, gave them to me as a gift. I bought more and loved it when the mini ones came out.
I felt like they were such an easy fix for so many clothing, scarf, or jewelry issues.
But now? They are gone. I have no idea why, but what I do know is that running a small business is hard.
I have written about the items in my fashion style kit, and many can work in place of the magnets.
What I Use Instead:
Luckily, I still have my Maggie’s magnets, but I can’t promote them, so you can benefit from their amazingness.
There are other options:
Pro tip: Magnets are not suggested for people with pacemakers.
What surprised me most while writing this wasn’t just what I miss, but how emotional we get about the things we love. Almost like a part of you…so when it’s gone, you are at a loss.
But here’s the upside:
Every single time one of these disappeared, I adapted. I experimented. I found something new. Not always with the same advantages as the original product, but always workable.
And that’s exactly how we should all approach fashion, food, and life in general:
-Learn to adjust.
-Evolve.
-Concentrate on what you do have instead of what is gone.
We just need the confidence to say, “Okay, what’s next?”
