Caregiver Quick Tip: Changing Undergarments without Removing Socks and Shoes

Quick Tip: Changing an Undergarment Without Removing Pants or Shoes
In this Quick Tip video, Cindy demonstrates a time-saving method for changing a disposable undergarment without requiring the individual to remove their pants or shoes. This technique is ideal for quick changes, maintaining client dignity, and reducing the effort involved in dressing/undressing.

Step-by-Step Process
Note: You can start with either leg. This demonstration begins with the right leg.

(1) Start the Right Leg: Put the right foot through the leg hole of the undergarment.
(2) Pull Up the Right Side: Reach down through the right pant leg and grab the undergarment, pulling it up the leg and out the top of the right pant leg. (3) Guide Down the Left Side: Take the remaining side/leg hole of the undergarment and feed it down through the top of the left pant leg.
(4) Pull Out the Left Side: Pull the undergarment out of the bottom of the left pant leg and guide it over the left foot.
(5) Final Positioning: Pull the undergarment up to the thighs. Pull the pants up next, in preparation for pulling both up the rest of the way once the individual stands (or is assisted to stand).
