Dom Luís I Bridge
The Dom Luís I Bridge, or Luís I Bridge, is a double-deck metal arch bridge that spans the River Douro between the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia in Portugal. At its construction, its 172 meters span was the longest of its type in the world. The metal arch bridge has an upper and lower deck and spans along the world-famous Douro River connecting the northern Portugal cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. Though Porto is known for having quite a few bridges, the Dom Luis I Bridge is especially renowned because it was designed by a student of Gustave Eiffel, the mastermind behind the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Caves Burmester – A magical place full of history
Burmester Wine Cellars are located in Vila Nova de Gaia, in a prime location overlooking the river Douro, by the bottom deck of Luiz I Bridge. Open to the public for guided tours and Port wine tastings, distinguished by their history and authenticity.

Sao Bento
Porto Sao Bento is a beautiful monument and the western terminus of the line that makes the impressive and picturesque route between the Douro Valley and Porto. Inside the station operates a cafeteria, public toilets, and a place to store your luggage.

Pinhao Portugal
Pinhao is one of the most well-known places to visit in the Douro region. The wine town of Pinhão is surrounded by vineyards that produce the world’s best Port wine and Douro table wines.

Pocinho Portugal
Pocinho is a small village located in the northern region of Portugal, on the banks of the River Douro. The village is part of the Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its stunning landscapes, traditional wine-making culture, and rich cultural heritage.

For more than 15 years, I've been organizing and leading small-group cultural tours around the world. These trips are specifically designed for active Baby Boomers and have all been 5-star rated and reviewed by my past clients.

Just some of the locations I continue to lead trips to include Antarctica, Cuba, Mexico's Copper Canyon, Cambodia, India, Vietnam, and throughout the Mediterranean (Spain, Italy, France, Portugal) and others (Armenia & Georgia and Finnish & Swedish Lapland).

During these trips, I love to share off-the-beaten-path locations and unique experiences, such as olive oil and caviar tastings, wine and spirit tastings, foodie tours and market walks, cooking classes and demonstrations, and when possible, I always introduce my clients to the local people, often getting into their homes and places of business to see how they live and work. We use expert local guides to be our interpreters, offer local history, answer questions, and provide us with insights into the local customs and more.

My YouTube channel, The Continental DRIFTER® (https://youtube.com/continentaldrifter) is where I share travel and photography tips with a large list of mature travelers who have remained loyal to my brand throughout the years.

I always say, "Life's too short not to travel!"
