In this episode of the Teaching Journeys Podcast I have a conversation with holistic occupational therapist Mandy Lubas and nurse practitioner Kristen Harte. Together, Mandy and Kristen co-founded “Holistic Therapies 4 Life.” They share their educational background, personal transformative health experiences, and insights about their passion for integrative health practices. They highlight the importance of looking at the body as a whole, integrating physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects to enhance individuals’ overall well-being. They also explain their services, which include transformational packages, Yoga Therapy, craniosacral therapy, and more. They assert that everyone has the power to heal themselves when given the right guidance.

Mandy Lubas” Bio

Mandy is a Holistic Occupational Therapist and a 2001 graduate of Quinnipiac University. She and her partner Kristen Harte opened Holistic Therapies 4 Life in 2018 after 20 years in practice working with clients across the lifespan. Mandy is a co-founder and co-facilitator of AOTA’s Integrative Health Occupational Therapy Community of Practice, the first integrative health group formally recognized by AOTA. She shares her passion by presenting and works to educate students, practitioners, educators, and colleagues on merging integrative health OT into the medical community by presenting at colleges throughout the US, at MAOT conferences, and AOTA conferences. Mandy shared her personal healing journey and the holistic approaches she uses in practice in articles published in OT Advance magazine.

Kristen Harte’s Bio

Kristen is a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Women’s Health. She graduated with a Master’s degree from The University of Pennsylvania in 1990. She has been in the field of medicine since 1987. She embarked on her holistic path over 10 years ago for her own health and well-being. She is a Reiki master, a certified Acutonics practitioner and is certified in Body-Feedback with essential oils. She also practices astrology and other forms of energy medicine such as Shamanism and Intuitive Plant Medicine.

Dave Roberts LMSW, Author, Podcaster

David J. Roberts, LMSW, became a parent who experienced the death of a child, when his daughter Jeannine died of cancer on 3/1/03 at the age of 18. He is a retired addiction professional and an adjunct professor in the psychology child life department at Utica University in Utica, New York. Dave also teaches psychology classes at Pratt MWP School of Art and Design. He is the host of The Teaching Journeys Podcast, which can be found on Apple, Spotify and other podcast platforms.

Dave has presented workshops at national conferences of The Compassionate Friends as well as for the Bereaved Parents of the USA. He was also a keynote speaker at the 2011 and 2015 national gatherings of the Bereaved Parents of the USA. Dave also co-presented a workshop titled “Helping Faculty After Traumatic Loss” for the Parkland, Florida community in May of 2018, in the aftermath of the mass shootings at Stoneman Douglas High School.

Roberts has been a past HuffPost contributor and has contributed articles to Medium, Open to Hope Foundation, Mindfulness and Grief, Thrive Global, and the Recovering the Self Journal. He has also appeared on numerous podcasts, as well as Open to Hope Television. In 2021,he co-authored and published a book with Reverend Patty Furino titled, When The Psychology Professor Met The Minister.
