1. When You’re Struggling to Get Your Kids Out the Door with Erin E. Sue Groner 24:59

Erin struggles to get her three kids off to school without any drama. Specifically, her 3-year-old son has been having tantrums about getting dressed, and that’s affecting everyone’s morning. She’s looking to find the balance between validating his feelings and getting everyone out the door.

Today, we talk about how Erin can make the mornings less stressful for everyone. We talk about the power of “and” and discuss how she can get more one-on-one time with her son in the mornings. I note that her son doesn’t necessarily need to get dressed before going to school, and we talk about finding the balance between letting your children know you’re in charge and respecting their feelings. We also talk about why you shouldn’t be afraid to say “you’re right” to your kids.

“If he doesn’t want to get dressed, why fight with him? Why go through him having to have a tantrum, you having to deal with him having a tantrum? Now you’re that much more tensed and stressed out. The idea is to not be that way.”
