The Book Leads – Episode 35: Drew T. Jackson & The Executive Leader’s Handbook: A Guide for the Daily Challenges of Leadership

For this episode, Drew walks me through a career path that’s ranged from his faith-based work, including planting a church in Santa Barbara, CA, to his current career in leadership training, speaking, and Coaching. His path to executive Coaching was borne out of sharing the lessons of his sermons within networking groups. Little by little, the lessons of leadership he learned throughout his own leadership in faith-based organizations found an audience, a home, and application in the business world.

Drew is another colleague whose career path and impact pivoted because of the pandemic, leading to his writing this “user manual for leadership,” where a leader can find insights from Drew on the specific challenge(s) they’re trying to overcome.

Some highlights from this episode:

  • What the metaverse means for the field of Coaching.
  • The famous quote, “If you want to avoid criticism, say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.”
  • Drew: “It’s not our responsibility to judge how many our voice resonates with. It’s just to go out and use our gift, use our skills, use our abilities, and let the cards fall where they may.”

The MAIN QUESTION for you, which underlies my conversation with Drew is, Are you able to be yourself in your leadership and life? Do you afford others the same consideration?

Bio: Drew is the author of the Amazon best new seller, The Executive Leader’s Handbook. He is an executive coach and a leadership trainer for companies including Chick-fil-A, Lennox, Habitat for Humanity, and many more. Drew believes that anyone can be a leader if they have the proper motivation and a clear path for development. Drew has also been married to his wife Heather for 20 years, and they have five kids and three dogs.
