1. Episode 24: Dr. Bridget Cooper & Pain Rebel: How We Take Our Power Back John M Jaramillo 1:29:07

For this episode, cage-rattler, prolific author, and leadership advisor Dr. Bridget Cooper walks me through her career journey, from empowering her Coaching clients to that same work taking on even greater meaning when she experienced life-altering changes after a traumatic motor vehicle accident.

In her book Pain Rebel, Dr. B. shares the lessons of engaging and working through pain, utilizing both accountability and compassion, working from her own traumatic experience to enhance the purpose of the book. She shows – and has lived – that we can look to our past, no matter what it looks like or how unideal it may be, to learn, move on, and thrive.

Who knew talking about pain could be so fun? In this conversation, we talk about how pain is a human experience we’ve all gone through in our own way. The more we talk about it, the more we can understand and get out of our own way.

Some highlights from this episode:

  • Why rage and other emotions we may consider unsettling are actually beautiful.
  • The 3 Questions to ask in determining if you’ve lived your best life.
  • “Borgiveness” – Dr. B’s take on forgiveness without the compromise

The MAIN QUESTION that underlies my conversation with Dr. B. is, No matter their level of severity, what do you do with the pain, trauma, and negativity you’ve experienced in your life?

Bio: Dr. Cooper is a cage rattler. Change strategist. Thought shifter. Best-selling author of six books on communication, conflict, change, and empowerment. Her latest, “Pain Rebel” offers us a roadmap out of being buried by pain with no purpose and into empowerment and abundance. Her ambitious mission is to change the world, one hopeful life at a time. Born onto the welfare system and raised by wolves, she’s made her own success, one broken fingernail at a time. She knows heartache and hopelessness and she also knows the power of the mind and spirit to carry you upward. Bottom line: “Dr. B” sculpts the leader in all of us by making us better people first. Her clients run the gamut from the Girl Scouts to Vietnam Vets. From universities to jails. From insurance companies to massage therapists. Her secret mission is to bring all of these groups together someday and see what fun transpires!
