1. Teresa Barnes: How to Connect with Hearing-Impaired People Dr. Ron Kaiser 33:03

Across the United States, there are 65 million people with hearing loss. This means, 1 in 5 persons have this disability.

Hearing is our first sense, our last sense, our quickest sense, and our social sense so we want to keep it as active as we can, for the longest period of our life.

In today’s episode, Teresa talks about how the millennials can help taking the stigma away from hearing impaired, and let those people who have it, function fully and completely. She explains the different categories of the hearing disability, what we can do to avoid it – if we’re not born with it – and how it feels to be in a deaf person’s shoes.

Teresa Barnes is the founder of HearCommunication – a business educational company, with the aim of helping businesses connect with the hearing impaired. Teresa has had 50% hearing loss since birth and she understands the challenges, professionally, as a former emergency room nurse manager and critical care nurse.

She’s the author of Sound Advice: Tune into Listening and the patent owner of the Hearing Friendly Decal, which will soon be a national symbol for those who are hard of hearing.
