1. What is Recreational Therapy? How Does It Help Seniors? Kim Hegwood 18:32

“There’s a wide variety of activities. But focusing just on a senior activity as you mentioned, the dancing, the Tai Chi, those kinds of activities are very beneficial, especially for older adults living in assisted living facilities or things like that. So that’s a form of physical exercise. But you know, in recreation therapy, we want the individuals to have fun and not think of it as therapy, but it really is, so I always tell my clients or patients, you focus on having fun.” Harriet Wilson

Harriet Wilson joins Kim Hegwood on Life Happens today to talk about a type of therapy that may be new to you. It is called Recreational Therapy and it differs from Physical or Occupational Therapy. Listen to this podcast to learn why this could benefit someone you care about.
