Hospice and End of Life Book Reviews by Marie

The Hospice Explained podcast has had several guests who are authors on different subjects of hospice care. One of the remarkable guests on episode 28 was Pepper Cappuccio in his book, “Warm Water; The Last Act of Compassion.” In this book, her compassion for patients after they die places greater dignity on them. In episode 37, Derek Flores joined Marie to talk more about his inspiring book, Seven Keys to a Peaceful Passing: A Hospice Nurse’s Step-by-Step Guide to Hospice. Marie had a chat about what is a Pain crisis and service failure. They also discussed the minimum number of caregivers and how taking care of Hospice patients can be a Marathon vs. a sprint. Physician aid in Dying, and that by allowing natural death, we don’t bypass the grieving process.

Join this short episode with Marie as she reviews these authors and others and the values, they bring to the hospice space through their literature writings. All the books discussed can be found on the Resources page on the website:

Marie Betcher Marie Betcher BSN, RN

I am a Registered nurse with 37 years of experience. I spent 4 of those years working in Hospice.
I found out of all areas that I worked either in or out of the Hospital.

Hospice and the end of life needed the most education. I created my Podcast Hospice Explained based on that need for education.
