  1. How to Know When to Pivot and When to Stay the Course - a Talents on Tap w/Tom Episode S3/EP35 Sheri Miter 42:00

What if I told you that when it comes to “Pivoting” , the thought that you should always pivot when you're not making progress. is a false belief? So what IS true? Listen for the amazing conversation with Tom Miter to find out!

In this Talents on Tap episode,  You will learn when the right time to pivot is and when it's better to stay the course in your business or life!

“Have you ever been in a business or even life situation where you realize you pivoted too quickly, you gave up on the process and you changed course, and you realize, looking back, that if I had only stayed doing what I was doing, I'd be that much further ahead?”

Yes? Me too!  This is my story…

I was in a business situation where I realized I pivoted too quickly and gave up on the process. I changed course and realized that if I had only stayed doing what I was doing, I'd be that much further ahead. Sometimes we keep on the same course way too long and we lose the momentum that we had at the beginning because we should have pivoted a little bit, or at least adjusted the sail slightly to change direction a little bit, or sometimes just a whole new direction.  Tom's story is different – he,  on the other hand, has high consistency and tends to be better at staying the course.  Which at times, can keep him stuck in mediocrity.  Today we are going to talk about when to pivot and when to stay the course and some tips and tools to help you figure out that decision, a really hard decision when that situation arises.

In this episode, you will learn the following:

  1. When is the best time to pivot in business or in life?
  2. What are the signs that it might be time to pivot?
  3. What are the consequences of not pivoting when necessary?
  4. What are the signs you should hold steady and stay the course?

Today's Talents on Tap beverage is from Brown's Brewing in Troy NY .  Tom is drinking his all time favorite beer, CHERRY RAZZ.  It's an Amber Ale brewed with cherries and raspberries.  Sheri a drinking NIGEL a New England IPA – that's hazy and juice forward with notes of ripe pear, tangerine, & pineapple, Tonatiuh, Citra & El Dorado hops

Sheri Miter Serial Entrepreneur

Sheri Miter is a serial entrepreneur. Her first business was selling painted rocks to neighbors when she was 7! This entrepreneurial spirit led her to many failures but also some huge successes, such as a Chimney Cleaning business with her husband Tom, a professional firefighter, and eventually a business as a Mary Kay sales director. While in Mary Kay, Sheri led her team to six-figure years multiple times, and YES, she drove the iconic pink Cadillac for part of her career!

Despite her success as a Sales Director in Mary Kay, Sheri found herself at a crossroads after 25 years. She began to question if this was the path she truly wanted for the next decade of her life. Even after achieving her best year, she felt a sense of weariness and asked herself, 'Is it ever going to be enough?' This internal struggle led her to a brave decision- to step away from her role as a Sales Director and embark on a new journey. This journey led her to become a Gallup Certified CliftonStrengths Coach. Today, Sheri has crafted a life she loves, assisting other highly successful women to discover their 'what’s next' career. She is passionate about working with women who have achieved success making the money, but are now eager to make an impact by unleashing their God-given strengths and embracing their true calling!

When Sheri isn’t busy with her clients or recording a new podcast, she cherishes her time with her grandkids and embarks on exciting adventures with her husband. Their escapades often include the beach, biking, or out boats. At the end of a fulfilling day, they savor the beauty of the sunset with a cocktail in hand, a testament to Sheri's belief in enjoying life's journey.
