Keeping your skin in top shape during the winter is easy to do with just a few key steps. It just takes a little extra time and effort but it can be done. Moisture is key and here are a few ideas to help maintain a healthy glow. Moisturizing the skin helps prevent dryness which can then become irritated, itchy and flaky. Once the moisture is lost, the skin can more easily crack and bleed. Lotions that you use in the summer may not be enough to tackle the elements your skin is exposed to in the winter. Cold air, wind and reflecting sun off of snow can all be detrimental to your skin. Escaping... Continue Reading
To the world you may be one person but to one person you may be the world.” -Dr. Seuss Lately, every time I mention to a stranger the ages of my grandchildren (5 years – 5 months) and how much I love them and their ages, they have all been saying – oh , just wait and they won’t be so cute when they’re teenagers. Seriously, like I don’t know what teenage years are like? As hard as teenage years may or may not have been, my kids were always kind human beings! I try not to watch too much of the news; however, when I do watch it often times there are stories about... Continue Reading

The word Galentine’s Day first was heard in February of 2010 during an episode of Parks and Recreation by Amy Poehler. In the episode, she says “What’s Galentine’s Day? Oh, it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus, frittatas. —”Galentine’s Day,” Parks and Recreation, 2010. So although it’s not an official holiday, people everywhere... I love Valentines Day! Sometimes we just need a day to remind us to open our hearts to those we love. It can be as simple or as creative as you want and will always put a smile on someone’s face. It is about the gestures, not the gifts. I love that it is an all-inclusive holiday to share and I have a few ideas for you, as your kids or grandchildren reach that “tween” age. I have found as my grandchildren have gotten older they are fond of “quality” chocolate, thanks to their mother. So I have decided to get them one nice box of chocolates instead of several miscellaneous... Continue Reading

Frozen rock art makes a fun outdoor decoration and the designs you can create are not limited to snowmen. Using your rocks you can also design flowers, turtles, make a heart design or write inspirational... Continue Reading
